EarlyLife Pregnancy Scanner

EarlyLife Pregnancy Scanner is an app that aims to meet the needs of the google generation mother-to-be.

Baby ultrasound scans are considered to be a safe, non-invasive, accurate and cost-effective investigation in the fetus. It has progressively become an indispensable obstetric tool and plays an important role in the care of every pregnant woman. The focus, however, seems to be on the printed picture and not what the individual measurements taken are.
Obstetricians and Sonographers don't take the time to explain to pregnant women the individual measurements taken on the fetus or the reason they are important to your babies health.
What I plan to do:
Currently there are two types of pregnancy scanning apps: those that cater for pregnant women and those that cater for clinicians. The information given on mother-to-be pregnancy apps uses generic comparisons for baby progression based on the time in your pregnancy. The information is non-personalised and therefore not useful. I want to develop an app that delivers answers and information that caters to the individual mother and her individual baby.

About Me

I am a geneticist specialising in Stem cell biology and Reproductive Genetics at the Institute for Women’s Health in University College London.

I did my BSc in Molecular Genetics at University College Cork in Ireland. I went on to do my MSc in Prenatal Genetics and Fetal Medicine at University College London. I did my PhD and post doctoral research at University College London in Stem cell biology and developmental genetics in the laboratory of Professor Robin Lovell-Badge at the National Institute for Medical Research. Here I researched the genes involved in sex determination. In my PhD, I worked on key genes involved in the formation of the ovary and discovered a key area within a female-specific gene, which when mutated, causes premature ovarian failure and can cause ovarian cancer.

Why do I need your support
There are many types of app, ranging from "simple", "data list", "complex" to "enterprise". Each type of app requires three stages:
Each of these stages require from £2000-5000 in order to deliver a quality product.
Help me to get this off the ground, to educate women and families and to give every woman the information they need for a personalised pregnancy.
